LOCATION: MATERO TOWNSHIP, NORTHWEST OF LUSAKA CITY, ZAMBIA

Martin Luther Lutheran Church has been on this site since 1957. It is the oldest and most established church of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa. Matero is a poor township in Lusaka and has many vulnerable children in need of an education. Like Kaunda Square, the church and school are located behind cement walls for security. The VCF funded the land purchase and school building project at this location with the doors opening in January of 2010. Since 2010, an additional two classrooms, a cooking shelter, toilet facilities, and a water tower have been added. The school now consists of two buildings containing a total of 5 classrooms.

The school serves children in grade Kindergarten through grade 7 and has a total enrollment of 312. Mrs. Christable Madzima serves as the headmistress of the school.
